Course Description

MetroWest Ballet upholds the highest standards of classical ballet training and instructs a strong, clean classical ballet technique.

The Lower School

Age 2 ½ -5

At this level, students present in studio performances for friends and family. For more information on performances, please visit our Events/Performances page.


Tots in Motion. 2 1/2 and 3-year-olds. Through story telling, props, music, and play, 3-year-olds are introduced to the joy of dance, and our experienced faculty work to ensure this joy and appreciation of dance will remain with the students for a lifetime. Rhythm, coordination, and listening skills are developed in a playful, warm, and nurturing atmosphere. During the class, parents may relax in our comfortable waiting area. Wireless internet and a kitchenette is available for use.

Creative Movement, and Pre Ballet. 4 and 5-year-olds. Inspiring and imaginative classes designed to be a foundation for basic dance principles and terminology. An emphasis s placed on musicality and creativity while basic coordination skills and the fundamentals of classical ballet are explored through music, the use of props, and imagery. Individual expression and improvisation is encouraged in a safe and welcoming atmosphere. During class, parents may relax in our comfortable waiting area. Wireless internet and a kitchenette is available for use.
 

Elementary Levels and the Upper School

Age 6 and up

At this level, students are encouraged to participate in on-stage performances. Dancers age 6 and 7 will present elements of training at the end of the year spring concert. And dancers age 8 and up will have several opportunities through out the year  to participate in MetroWest Ballet productions. Ballet Early elementary school students begin to develop skills in a structured class format to include barre work, center, and skills across the floor. Emphasis is placed on posture, musicality, coordination, and following direction. A portion of class remains dedicated to creative dance and individual expression. As students age and progress, they are introduced to the world of classical ballet choreography. Intermediate and advanced students are also exposed to historical dance and elements of character dance.
